Gallery – A Feast of Christmas Music – December 2011
This year we were joined by the Hilary James and Simon Mayo. This talented duo has travelled the world from Vancouver to Singapore and their music is described as "a witty and captivating mix of folk, swing, blues and classical showstoppers", (The Guardian) spiced with Simon Mayor's unique brand of off-beat humour and Hilary's "honey-dripping voice". Simon is one of the world's leading mandolin virtuosos as well as a fine guitarist and fiddle player. He has had his own series on Radio 2 and an album in the Classic FM Top Ten chart. Hilary James’ “elegant singing” (Daily Telegraph) easily crosses the great musical divides from Celtic ballads to blues and Berlioz. They performed a seasonal selection from their extensive repertoire and joined the choir for the finale of the evening,
Another sell out performance.

Such a fantastic evening of songs and verse with Craig:Morgan:Robson. The evening started with the overture composed by Reverend Professor June Boyce-Tillman and performed by Brass22.
One of our talented basses, Steve Gapper, took some wonderful photographs of the choir members, both at our "dress" rehearsal and on the night of the concert. As you will see, he has really captured the vitality and fun of the performance and there are some striking portraits of various individuals. Thank you Steve!

We were fortunate to be joined by John Kirkpatrick for our Christmas Concert. He is one of the most prolific figures on the English folk scene, performing solo, in duos, acoustic groups and electric bands and has an enviable reputation as an instrumental virtuoso, a session musician as well as leading interpreter of English folk music. John’s set included songs from his “Carolling and Crumpets” Christmas show.

Winchester Community Choir was delighted to sing the last song of the Winchester Passion, 'Keep you in Peace' (music & lyrics, Sarah Morgan) on Good Friday, March 2008. Some members of the choir even braved the heights to sing on the balcony above the west door of the cathedral. Their starring moment came as the resurrected Jesus descended to meet his followers
